Understanding Thyroid Problems

What Does the Thyroid Do?

The thyroid gland controls the body's metabolism. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) is far more common, especially in women, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) is less common.

Symptoms can be easy to miss, which is why a blood test (TSH) is the only reliable way to know.

  • Underactive: tiredness, weight gain, feeling cold, dry skin, hair fall, constipation, low mood, irregular periods
  • Overactive: weight loss, palpitations, heat intolerance, sweating, anxiety, tremor, loose stools
  • A visible swelling in the front of the neck (goitre)
The Homeopathic Approach

Homeopathic Support for Thyroid Problems

Homeopathic treatment is chosen for you as an individual after a detailed case history — symptoms, weight, cycle, stress, family history and your test results. It is used as supportive care for the whole person, and your doctor will review your reports regularly.

Please do not stop or change any thyroid tablet on your own. Thyroid medicine, when prescribed, must be continued until the doctor treating your thyroid advises otherwise, guided by blood tests.

Getting Started

What to Bring and What to Expect

Bring your latest thyroid reports (TSH, T3, T4), any neck scan and your current medicine list. Consult at our Calicut or Wandoor clinic or online; call for the doctor's day. Regular thyroid tests every few months are important throughout.

When to seek urgent care: Seek urgent care for a rapidly racing heart, extreme weakness, confusion, a fast-growing neck swelling, or trouble breathing or swallowing.
