Understanding Piles

What Are Piles and Fissures?

Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen veins in the lower rectum and anus; a fissure is a small tear in the anal lining. Both are very common, often linked to constipation and straining, and can cause pain, itching or bleeding.

Many people delay seeing a doctor out of embarrassment, so problems continue longer than they need to.

  • Bleeding with stools, or on tissue
  • Pain, burning or itching around the anus
  • A lump or swelling that comes out
  • Hard, painful stools and straining
  • Long hours of sitting, low-fibre diet and low water intake
The Homeopathic Approach

Homeopathic Care and Diet for Piles

Homeopathic treatment is chosen for you as an individual after a private history covering your bowel habit, diet, water intake, pain and bleeding. It is combined with the most important part of treatment — softening the stool and avoiding straining.

Eat plenty of fibre (vegetables, fruit, whole grains), drink enough water, avoid sitting on the toilet for long, and stay active.

Getting Started

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Consultations are confidential, in person or online. Your doctor will be honest if a problem needs a surgeon's examination.

When to seek urgent care: Please have bleeding properly checked, especially if you are over 40, if it is heavy or repeated, or if it comes with weight loss, a change in bowel habit or severe pain — other causes must be ruled out.
